Sign in with a password and a second factor
The password is a transitional method. When your account has a passkey or an approver phone, or your organization requires a second factor, the right password leads to a second step before the console opens.
How do I sign in with my password?
- On the sign-in page, fill in «Organization» and «Email».
- Open «Use password», type the «Password» and choose «Sign in with password».
- The «Second factor» step appears, titled «Confirm it is you», with the text «The password was accepted. Your organization also requires a second factor: approve with ProofFlow Presence (Mobile) or use a passkey.»
- Choose one option:
- «Approve with ProofFlow Presence (Mobile)»: the page shows a six-digit code; type it on your phone and confirm with biometrics or the PIN. See Approve a request on your phone.
- «Use a passkey on this device»: confirm with your passkey.
- «Use recovery»: leaves this step and opens recovery-code sign-in.
What if my account only has an authenticator-app code?
After the password, the «One-time code» step appears. See Sign in with a password and a code. That session only lets you manage your account.
Messages in this step
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| «Could not verify the identity.» | Wrong organization, email or password. The message is the same in every case, for security |
| «This account has no second factor it can use here. Use recovery or ask an administrator for help.» | You have no usable phone or passkey. Use a recovery code or ask for a reset |
| «The passkey did not confirm the sign-in. Try again or choose another way.» | Try again or use your phone |
| «Your organization now requires a second factor. Confirm it is you to continue.» | Your administrator turned the second factor on while you were working. Confirm to continue |
Is the password ever enough on its own?
Only to add the first strong factor, on an account with no passkey and no phone, in an organization that does not require a second factor. Administering and signing in to your organization's applications always need a passkey or a phone approval.
