Your organization's licence and end-of-licence warnings
In an organization created by the platform or by a distributor, the licence sets how many active users (seats) it may have and until when. Every licence includes every feature.
Where do I see the licence?
«Manage» › «Licence». The console explains: «The licence your organization holds, where it comes from and how its seats are used. A seat is an active user.» You see:
- the state and end date;
- how many active users use the seats;
- the «Chain of licences, from the platform», with each record's signature state.
When there is a warning, the top of the console shows a banner with «Licence details».
Which states are there?
| State | When | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| «Active» | Within validity | Everything works |
| «Ending soon» | 30 days before the end (by default) | Warning banner; everything works |
| «In grace period» | After the end, during the grace (14 days by default) | Everything works; renew now |
| «Expired» or no licence | After the grace | Read-only |
What stops working when it becomes read-only?
«Sign-in, ending sessions, changing a user's status and data-subject requests keep working.» Other administrative changes (creating people, configuring applications, changing policies) are refused with license_read_only. No data is deleted. Some licences suspend the organization instead of making it read-only; the licence terms decide.
I cannot create more people
When every seat is used, creating or re-enabling a person is refused with entitlement_exceeded. Suspend accounts no longer in use (that frees the seat) or ask for more seats.
How do I renew?
Whoever issued the licence renews it: your distributor or the platform. Ask before the end. A renewal ends the warning, the grace and read-only mode automatically.
